The "Star Wars" movie series has many fans around the world, and every time it is released, it becomes a global festival. It is now "more than a movie.
With a series this long, the level of demand from fans is bound to be high. Star Wars: The Force Awakens," the seventh episode of the series, was released in 2015 to critical acclaim. Its sequel, Episode VIII, "Star Wars: The Last Jedi," will open in theaters nationwide on Friday, December 15.
And to celebrate the film's release, an art show, "STAR WARS THE LAST JEDI ART SHOW TOKYOwill be held at "Harajuku VACANT" from October 7 (Sat) to October 15 (Sun). Admission is free.
This event is an art show that transcends various creative disciplines and cultures, including art, fashion, and traditional Japanese crafts.
The participating artists are Katsuya Kamo (hair stylist/makeup artist), Sunghee Kim (chandelier artist), Kosuke Kawamura (collage artist/graphic designer), Lambda Takahashi (fashion stylist), Ryota Aoki (ceramic artist), Ryota Aoki (painter/calligraphy artist), Yoshiro Nagaba (illustrator). (ceramicist), USUGROW (painter/calligraphy artist), YOSHIROTTEN (graphic artist/creative director/designer), and OU NAGABA (illustrator), eight up-and-coming creators representing Japan.
The theme of the exhibition is "Star Wars: The Last Jedi," and each creator has created a unique way of expressing his or her work. Because the theme is a blockbuster film of this magnitude, the pressure on the creators is considerable. What kind of works will we be able to witness after overcoming such pressure?
Before the coming year-end festivities, let's first prepare for the festivities by watching "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" produced by the leading Japanese creators.
