Clothing production involves multiple processes, including design, pattern, fabric selection, and sewing. Among them, processing is used to change the appearance and provide functionality.
STONE ISLAND" is exceptionally particular about this processing. This time, a jacket using a technique called "corrosion treatment" has been introduced.
Corrosion Treatment" is a technique for bleaching nylon fabrics through a corrosive process. After garment-dyeing black with a special dye, a portion of the dye is removed in a unique way. This produces an uneven and deep color, similar to Japanese indigo dyeing, and gives each garment a different appearance. This is a technique unique to "Stone Island" that was originally intended for natural fibers, but has been applied to synthetic fibers, which are difficult to handle.
The processing is summarized in a 1-minute video, which we invite you to view.
The end result is this quilted jacket. In addition to a windproof and moderately water-resistant resin coating, a special treatment was applied to the recycled nylon fabric to enhance its water-repellent effect.
Another key point is the use of PrimaLoft®, a lightweight and highly insulating material. The quilting stitched through that padding layer gives it a graphical look.
Wearing it in the campaign visual is Isaac Hale, guitarist for the hardcore punk band Knocktoruce.
