The fashion industry faces many social issues such as climate change, impact on the ecosystem, and waste of resources due to mass production and mass disposal.
Goldwin is determined to sincerely address such social issues, and has set a corporate mission statement for 2024: "Leading people to take on challenges and expanding the possibilities of people and nature.
The Nature Observation Bookstore will be held based on this perpasion. The bookstore will be open only for six days from December 9 (Tue.) to 14 (Sun.), exploring the possibilities of nature, the environment, humans, and play.
About 800 books were selected for this event to reconsider the relationship between people and nature from a variety of perspectives, including natural science, philosophy, art, and sports.
While that alone is impressive enough, those who purchase the book will also receive "A STUDY OF THE RHYTHMS OF NATURE," a visualization book of Goldwyn's Purposes. This book is a record of observations that help us to reconsider the complexity and wholeness of the world in which we live, under the theme of "Earth Movement." It contains numerous photographs that let us feel the cycles of nature, and interviews with creators who are engaged in activities that expand the relationship between people and the natural environment.
The venue will also feature a variety of other contents.
In order to encourage visitors to take the time to enjoy books while feeling nature, this bookstore uses field recordings by Eisuke Yanagisawa, a sound culture researcher, as background music to create a reading space where visitors can feel the cycles of nature.
If you listen carefully to the echoes of the city, where various environmental sounds are mixed together, you may discover a new form of "nature" in the city.
In addition, four artists, including Mill Shinoda and Takuro Okada, will layer and weave "music for reading" with their own sensibilities to the background music at the venue recorded in the field by Eisuke Yanagisawa.
A book reading session was also held at the venue. The book director and editor, Hiroyuki Yamaguchi, will be invited as a lecturer to talk about why he chose the book, what he felt from the book, and what he thought about while reading it.
During the exhibition, a limited number of coffees from Single O, a coffee roaster from Sydney, will be available for tasting.
Some of these contents have a set capacity, so please contact us for more information.Click here for a special site.for more information.
The venue is the event space on the first floor of Goldwyn's headquarters building. This event is a stirring response to the current state of the fashion industry, and we hope you will visit the venue to experience the corporate perspective of Goldwyn with your skin, ears, and eyes.
