Asia is still brimming with fascinating people and stories... I’ve found a book and an exhibition that really bring that to life.
This refers to the debut work *Yugi [ Complete Edition ]* by WOSHIBAI, a cartoonist and illustrator based in Shanghai, China. Following its release in China, the U.S., and France, this 720-page complete edition is now coming to Japan.
You can read a sample hereBut I find myself completely drawn in by the minimalist style, with its sparse use of text and lines. And the blend of everyday motifs and a surreal worldview really brings out the fun of reading manga. This is amazing.
The book will be available in bookstores starting Thursday, January 29, but it’s already on sale and on display at “Tiger Mountain,” a bookstore and gallery in Toranomon. If you’re in the area, be sure to check it out there first!
