Patrick Demarchelier
Born in Le Havre, France, in 1943, he is one of the leading photographers of the 1990s fashion world. He moved to New York in 1975 and, while working as a freelance photographer, studied under Henri Cartier-Bresson, Terry King, and Jacques Gilbert. He subsequently gained attention for his cover work in numerous fashion magazines and took the fashion world by storm through various international advertising campaigns for top fashion houses such as Dior, Louis Vuitton, Celine, and Chanel. He also made his mark in history as the personal photographer to the late Princess Diana. His timeless and classic portraits have been widely acclaimed, and his achievements are highly regarded worldwide; in 2007, he was awarded the title of Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters by Christine Albanel, France’s Minister of Culture and Communication.
