When choosing sneakers, we’re naturally drawn not only to functionality but also to designs with a touch of quirkiness or a unique twist. This collaboration between France-based VEJA and Los Angeles-based PLEASURES looks like it will perfectly capture that spirit.
VEJA x PLEASURES Salar ¥38,500
The two brands collaborated on “Salar,” a collection that combines urban silhouettes with outdoor elements. The design draws inspiration from plant roots. By processing close-up scans of roots, they’ve created a camouflage-like pattern that is abstract yet evokes the organic shapes found in nature.
The combination of materials is also worth noting. For the first time, the design incorporates elements that blend mesh and suede, featuring a color palette reminiscent of the lush grass in a forest. Combined with a color scheme that evokes natural landscapes—such as the earth, leaves, and tree bark—the shoe exudes an outdoor vibe while remaining easy to incorporate into urban styling. The outsole is made by Vibram, carrying on the technical DNA of ’s original models.
The materials used include recycled polyester, organic cotton, and natural rubber from the Amazon. Inspiration drawn from nature is reflected not only in the designs but also in the choice of materials. The collection launches on Wednesday, October 28.
