The photographic medium is visual information, but sometimes it is more than that. It is sometimes an elusive thing called presence, atmosphere, or air.
Some photographers are able to contain such invisible things in their photographs, and they are able to speak more eloquently with their pictures than with words. Yoshiyuki Okuyama's photographs also capture something sensual, which is why they have a special power to captivate the viewer.

The surrounding environment, which forms as if it were a sphere, seems to me to be shaped by "something" emanating from itself. This "something" is often found in photographs.
In this exhibition, Yoshiyuki Okuyama, who has been working as a photographer for six years, presents his latest work, which depicts the daily life of a village and the creation of a circle of people in the manner of drawing a sphere, which was stopped after he produced his photo book "BACON ICE CREAM" (Parco Publishing). The exhibition is composed of four chapters, with approximately 70 of his latest works, both figurative and abstract, depicting a village where life is in the air and a circle of people is being created as if drawing a sphere.
In addition, a special screening of video works will be held in the Gallery 916 small, an adjoining exhibition room. In conjunction with the exhibition, "As the Call, So the Echo," a photography book published by Akaakasha, will be on sale at 916.

The photographs are filled with a kindness that gently eases the stiffness of the viewer's heart. It is precisely because it is a chilly season like this that they resonate so strongly and gently.
