In the late 90's, "rap rock" (mixed rock), which is based on rock music and adds elements of rap music, flourished worldwide, and many bands emerged here in Japan. RIZE, formed in 1997, is one such band. After steadily honing their skills in the independent scene while performing mainly at live houses in Tokyo, RIZE made their long-awaited major label debut in 2000. Their second single "Why I'm Me" released in the same year became a smash hit. After that, they swept through the Japanese rock scene at breakneck speed. Then came 2017. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the band's formation.
This year, the band has been more active than usual, touring energetically and releasing their first original album in seven years, "THUNDERBOLT~The Thunderbolts are Back. On December 20 (Wed.), the band will perform at the Nippon Budokan for the first time "RIZE TOUR 2017 "RIZE IS BACK" Nippon Budokan. The band has prepared an appropriate stage to conclude the anniversary year, with Zeebra, Hayato Ichihara, and Def Tech announced as guest performers. This stage will surely show the culmination of RIZE's 20-year history.
