In the article, Yuji Ota, editor-in-chief of Oceans magazine, tells us how he came to pursue a career in editing and how he is proud to be an editor.
Yuji Ota / Editor-in-Chief of "Oceans" was born in 1972. After graduating from college, he joined a Japanese tire manufacturer , where he worked as a sales representative in the overseas department before moving into the editorial world. After working as a sales representative in the overseas department, he entered the world of editing, becoming a founding member of the magazine "Leon" in 2001, where he worked for four years. . He was then involved in the launch of "Oceans" in 2006, and became editor-in-chief in 2008.
The work of an editor requires careful attention to detail and meticulous work. Mr. Ota, who is engaged in such a profession, has a strong sense of care about things. Of course, he has a unique perspective. I tend to choose things that are a bit like toys," he said. I like square-shaped cars, and there is a part of me that thinks of them as moving plastic models," he says. So, without further ado, let's check out some of Mr. Ota's personal belongings.
Tumbler "GODZILLA
. this is the one I bought when I went to see the American version of the movie Godzilla. Ken Watanabe was in the movie. I love Godzilla, and when I saw the figurines attached to the caps, I thought they were so cool that I bought three of them (laughs). (Laughs.) One of them has been kept at my office and I use it every day.
PENDLETON" car inspection certificate case
The dealership where I bought my car was planning and producing car accessories, so I bought one there. Pendleton allows one company to design products in one category, and this was sold as a case for vehicle registration.
Sunglasses "OAKLEY
. This is Oakley's flagship model, the Frogskin. This is one of the models with a frame designed to fit Asian faces, and I always keep it on my dashboard so that I can wear it anytime, even while driving.

. I bought it to hang in the room mirror of my car (laughs). Usually mermaids are women, but this one is an Indian folk art featuring an old sailor with a beard. I found its humor and the fact that its face is so goofy amusing that I couldn't resist picking it up (laughs)."
