This year, Mazda launched the CX-8, its top-of-the-line SUV sold in Japan. The CX-8 is equipped with various technologies to comfortably accommodate a large number of passengers, including a third row of seats that can comfortably seat a 170-centimeter-tall adult. This vehicle is also attracting attention in the fashion industry for its design and driving performance.
The most important point is that the CX-8 is equipped with a Bose sound system, which was jointly developed with Mazda from the early stages of the vehicle design process. Careful tuning designed exclusively for the CX-8 allows for balanced and optimal sound quality to be heard from all three rows of seats.
HOUYHNHNM's editorial staff immediately test-drove the CX-8 equipped with the Bose sound system. We will introduce the CX-8 with the Bose sound system along with our impressions.

The CX-8 is a model that pursues a high-quality ride and quietness so that all passengers can enjoy a safe and comfortable automotive lifestyle. In particular, the quietness of the CX-8 is designed to reduce road noise and wind noise (noise generated when entering a tunnel) and to improve sound insulation, "with the aim of allowing the driver and third-row passengers to talk as loud as usual.

My impression of the actual experience was that with music playing, I was able to talk to the driver and front passenger without raising my voice, even though I was sitting in the third row. In addition, the sound quality of the music was "As expected from Bose! ." From hip-hop with a strong bass sound, to electro with a floating sound, to rock with mainly live band instruments, all of which were prepared by the editorial staff, it felt like a concert hall, no matter which seat I was sitting in. The sound was so crisp and clear that I was honestly surprised to discover new things about songs I must have heard hundreds of times before.
To explain the speakers, the Bose sound system in the CX-8 is equipped with 10 units. As a Bose Automotive representative explains, "The image of a special seat in a concert hall, with the stage spread out before you," is one that makes it difficult to create a center image in car audio systems. For the CX-8, however, this problem was solved by working with Mazda to design the vehicle from the drawing board stage. The CX-8's tuning is amazing because it uses a proprietary algorithm to analyze how the driver and front passenger hear from hundreds of different positions, and the tuning is designed so that the vocals are centered in every seat.
Incidentally, the vehicle is priced between 3,196,800 and 4,190,400 yen (including tax). A coupling device that can tow a trailer or camper with a gross weight of 750 kg or less is also available as an option, so it is expected to be useful not only for city driving but also for outdoor scenes. . Please visit your local dealer and take it for a test drive.
