Shin Yoshihara" is a souvenir brand by Yayoi Okano, who was born and raised in Yoshiwara. Yoshiwara flourished as a brothel during the Edo period and is now known as the largest soapland district in Japan. The brand was launched in 2014, reflecting the history and culture of this colorful town in its products with a sense of sophistication, glamour, and humor, and in 2016, a directly managed store, Okano Yayoi Shoten, was opened.
The "Colored Glasses Wipe" is a vertical size, which is rare for glasses wipes. The "Colored Glasses Wipe" is an unusual vertical size for an eyeglass wipe. It has the same world view as the "Shin-Yoshihara" series, and the essence of eyeglasses (( glasses) and the eyeglass measuring chart ()) are incorporated into the graphic design. The "Shin Yoshiwara" world is preserved in the graphic design, with the essence of ( eyeglasses and ) eyeglass chart for measuring eye sight. The "Shin Yoshiwara" message is not only to clean and wipe away "colored glasses = sunglasses, preconceived ideas and prejudice" but also to clean smartphones, tablets, LCD screens and watches.
Both Mr. Okano and Toshiyuki Araoka, the director of Brink Gaienmae, were born and raised in Taito Ward, Tokyo, and the idea for this collaboration came about when they hit it off while talking about the transition and atmosphere of the city from the 1980s to the present.
To celebrate the launch on January 5 (Fri.), a pop-up event "Oenga 2018( Oenga 2018)" will be held at the store from January 5 (Fri.) to 21 (Sun.). Original items from , including "colored glasses wipes," will be on display in the store.
