Graphic designer/publisher Satoru Machiguchi's project "Daido Moriyama: Ango" is the fifth installment of his project to create a "book with new expressive power" by intermingling the photographs of Japanese photographers and modern and contemporary Japanese literature in the space of a single book. Moriyama: Ango" is the fifth installment of this project. Under the Cherry Blossoms in Full Blossom," published in 1947, is a masterpiece by Ango Sakaguchi, one of the great stars of the MUJI school, along with "The Fall" and "Hakuchi" (The Idiot). Satoru Machiguchi has newly knitted and bound this masterpiece and Daido Moriyama's photographs into a new book. The English edition of "Daido Moriyama: Ango" was released in advance at Paris Photo in November 2017, and it was a great success.

To commemorate the publication of the book, a gallery "POETIC SCAPE. will exhibit Daido Moriyama's photographic works included in the book from March 21 (Wed., national holiday) to April 22 (Sun.). The venue, "POETIC SCAPE," is located in Nakameguro, a popular cherry blossom viewing spot. When a peaceful spring breeze blows in the city, Daido Moriyama's cold, empty space in the gallery space will be filled with clinging cherry blossoms. . When you leave the gallery, the vivid cherry blossoms of reality are right in front of you....
Designer Satoru Machiguchi has "crossed" Ango Sakaguchi's words with Daido Moriyama's photographs of jet-black cherry blossoms in this book. By experiencing the photos in the book and letting the cherry blossom scenery of Nakameguro burn into your eyelids, you may be able to recomprehend the photos in a new way.
