Yusuke Yamatani, a prodigy, has arrived at a new method of expression: self-portraiture!

The form of expression changes freely according to the occasion.Photographer Yusuke Yamatani. In his previous work, "Into the Light," he photographed a residential area in the suburbs of Tokyo late at night with an infrared camera. He says that the film made him keenly aware, both mentally and physically, of seeing and being seen, and of the act of filming himself.

A collection of haunting photographs taken in a residential area at night with an infrared camera . Here is a new world of photographer Yusuke Yamatani.

Seeking a new stage for each work, Yamatani's next move was to create his first self-portrait. This work, "The doors," was created through a performance using drums, which Yamatani has been doing since he was a teenager. A camera device newly devised for this project was used, and a vibration sensor attached to the drum set reacts to the beating of the drums, triggering the shutter release.

This aggressive attempt is presented directly in the three-dimensional space.

During the exhibition period, there will be several days of performances that are unique to this work. In this trancey space, where Yamatani's intense and prolonged drumming reveals the space between the conscious and the unconscious, you will witness how the photographs stand out clearly with their physicality.

The photos taken are immediately printed out and fill the venue. . A way of expression that only Yamaya, who also has a deep attachment to music, can produce is about to be born. We invite you to experience it with your eyes and ears.
