The film adaptation of "Tomoshin" (published by Shueisha Bunko), a book published in 2013 by Gaku Yakumaru, a standard-bearer in the mystery world who debuted with the Edogawa Rampo Award and has since won numerous awards, has attracted a lot of attention for its evocation of the Kobe child serial murder case. Directed by Takahisa Zeze, who won international awards for "Heaven's Story" and made a big hit with "64 - Rokuyon - Part 1 / Part 2", the film will be released nationwide on May 25, 2018 from ( Friday ).
Starring Toma Ikuta and Eita, this film brings together some of the best actors in the Japanese film industry, including Koichi Sato, Kaho, Mizuki Yamamoto, and Yasuko Tomita. The film tells the "aftermath" of "Boy A," a young boy who once committed an incident that shook the world. Almost all the characters have some kind of trauma from past events, and their past and present intertwine with each other. What would you do if there was a former Juvenile A around you? Once you have established a relationship with a person, you realize that it cannot be easily discarded or repaired.
~STORY~.
Masuda (Toma Ikuta), a former weekly journalist, and Suzuki (Eita), who stubbornly avoids interaction with others, start working at a local factory. Although they have nothing in common, they gradually develop a friendship while living in the same dormitory. Then, a child murder occurs near their town, and the public points out the similarity to a heinous incident that shook Japan 17 years ago. The murderer, Juvenile A, who was 14 years old at the time, has already been released from prison, and few people know his whereabouts. Was he really responsible for this incident as well? Moved by surprise and doubt, Masuda is astonished when he sees a photo of Boy A spreading on the Internet. The photo shows Suzuki, who still looks very young.
