The Australian island of Tasmania is one of the last Gondwana rainforests in the world. The Turcain (Takaina) region, in particular, is an ancient and largely untouched wilderness, and the sand dunes at the end of the coastline are home to the cultural heritage of the ancient aborigines.
The Tharkaing region is facing a crisis of survival due to logging and mining. So, [Joon] ...PatagoniaThe group is working with the Aboriginal community to get signatures on a petition calling for the area to be nominated and protected as a World Heritage Site.
In conjunction with this, screenings of the documentary film "takayna," produced by Patagonia Film, will be held at Patagonia's directly managed stores.
Focusing on the experiences of a doctor on the trail and a dedicated environmentalist, the film brings to light the complexities of the modern conservation movement and challenges us to protect the last remaining truly wild places.
In addition to the film screening, the screening event will include a talk session on the Minamisanriku Firebreak Line Project, a trail activity to bring back golden eagles. Trail runner Hiroki Ishikawa, a core member of this activity, will be present at some of the stores.
By running the trails, we can face nature, look at the environment, and connect it to our actions. Why not take this opportunity to become aware of this?
