Photographer Toyama Takuro was born in 1988. He has shot portraits and tours for Mitsume, a four-piece band that has garnered attention in the independent scene, as well as in fashion and other media. Also featured article in HOUYHNHNM. Toyama's photographs have a sense of realism, as if the scenes they depict are right in front of your eyes. The nuances are not obnoxious, however, and the pictures are easily absorbed into the viewer's mind. There is a lovely atmosphere here and there, and I could watch the pictures for a long time.
This time, Toyama's new photo book, Sight, will be released in July. The 25 works in the book are set in Hawaii . The following is a reprint of the release.
As I flip through the scenes that the photographer has seen while walking alone in Hawaii, a tourist destination where the ordinary and the extraordinary intersect, I begin to think that "seeing" is fragmentary, and "photographing" is an act of spinning the fragments together. There is no reason why I spin, I just can't stop spinning. . After the impulse has passed, the photographs still continue to be spun. This large-format book presents 25 photographs that seem to represent a turning point for the photographer.
This photo book is limited to 200 copies. The book design by editorial designer Natsuko Yoneyama is also not to be missed.
Furthermore, an exhibition to celebrate the release of the photo book will be held at the event space "STUDIO STAFF ONLY" in Jingumae, Tokyo, from July 13 (Fri.).
