Have you heard of the "Henner Vendor" portrait vending machine, originally developed by artist Yuya Hashizume?
When a portrait is drawn, it usually takes a long time. This vending machine was created for those who want to preserve their portraits as memories in a more casual manner.
The process is quite simple. Insert money, take a picture of your face with the camera attached to the machine, select a frame of your choice from about six or seven different types, and wait about five minutes for the portrait to be completed!
Since the winter of 2015, we have been installed at events in various cities, including Okayama, Hashizume's hometown. To date, more than 1,000 portraits have been produced.
And now, the long-awaited Japan tour will be held for the fans. This time, the tour will cover major cities in Japan as well as local areas such as Gunma, Niigata, and Miyagi. This is good news for those who have not been able to go due to distance.
The Henner Vendor is a new kind of portrait vending machine that overturns conventional wisdom. This one looks worth a try. Look for the "hui-nam" sticker somewhere on the vending machine!
