The artists participating in this exhibition are colleagues who studied photography under Kozo Miyoshi at Nihon University College of Art's Department of Photography. After graduation, they have gone their separate ways but continue to take photographs and comment on each other's work.
Many of the artists were born in the latter half of the Showa period (1926-1989), and began studying photography just as the transition from analog to digital methods was underway. In order to question the meaning of shooting on film and going into the darkroom to create works in an age when digital photography has become the norm, all of the works in the "New Old School" exhibition were created using analog techniques.

Digital photography is not photography . Passion, resentment, envy, jealousy, and such things about photography do not show up in digital photography. They are a mass of desire. Please look at our photos and feel it. A return to the real thing.
