Surfing and skateboarding have been selected for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Taking this opportunity, the "NIIJIMA SURF×SKATE FESTIVAL" festival was started at Habushiura Beach in Niijima with the aim of not only connecting people of all ages, regardless of gender, but also revitalizing the local community through the use of skateboards that can be enjoyed by everyone from children to adults. The second edition of the festival will be held on October 13 and 14.
The NIIJIMA SURF x SKATE FESTIVAL consists mainly of surfing and skating competitions. More than 60 participants will gather to compete with their best skills, and pro surfers and pro skaters will also hold exhibitions.
Because it is run by Niijima locals with a history of surfing, the atmosphere is somehow homey and full of humanity, which is also appealing. The turquoise sea welcomes you with the best hospitality at this precious festival. It would be fun just to go and see the festival as a spectator. By the way, it takes about 2.5 hours from Hamamatsucho (Takeshiba) by boat or 40 minutes from Chofu by plane, so you can go there on a day trip! Why not extend your trip?
