An exhibition that comprehensively reviews the past, present, and future of photographer Yusuke Yamatani has begun. A must-see talk show will also be held!

In HOUYHNHNM.Continuously following the activity.Photographer Yusuke Yamatani. Always trying to be alternative, Yamatani's work can be considered heretical even within the world of photography.

Among his books, the long out-of-print photo books "ground" (2014 lemon books) and "RAMA LAMA DING DONG" (2015 self published) are now being reprinted by "Gallery Yamaya". .

The "Atelier Yamaya" exhibition will be held at this time. As the name suggests, objects from the artist's atelier on the second floor of his home will be brought into the exhibition, providing a bird's eye view of the artist's past, present, and future.

Don't miss the three talk events that will take place during the exhibition.

The following are Yamatani's own words.

Hello, my name is Yusuke Yamatani.
It has been 11 years since I started photography. It has been 5 years since my first photo book "Tsugi no yoru e". I am still an amateur. But, well, a lot has happened in a short period of time. I have met and parted with people repeatedly, I have been dishonest by nature, and I have never taken a photograph by playing catch-up with my passionate feelings toward the subject. Perhaps the reason I have been able to continue is that I feel comfortable with the coldness of photography.
I have decided to rent the book obscura store to recreate a bit of my studio, which is on the second floor of my house. I will be showing my old works, new works, various things in the process of making works, books and accessories that I bought out of curiosity, scraps of commercial work photos, and so on. It is the past that I have gone through, but at the same time, there are probably seeds of future works lying there. Perhaps. I'm sure.
