Oshima tsumugi is a traditional craft technique of the Amami region , and boasts a history dating back to about 1,300 years ago. Oshima tsumugi, which has the oldest tradition among dyed fabrics in Japan, is known as a specialty product of the "mud dyeing" dyeing technique using indigenous natural resources and the most elaborate and precise hand weaving technique in the world.
At this event, a limited number of "Filmerange" products dyed with mud will be on sale, and Oshima silk, a highly traditional craft that reflects the natural environment, history, and traditional culture unique to Amami and crystallizes the climate and craft techniques of the area, will be on display.
On the first day of the event, a craftsman from Amami Oshima Island will visit the store and demonstrate the mud dyeing process. This will be a rare opportunity to see the dyeing process in action. Witness the happy marriage of Japanese culture.
