The art book festival, which is ridiculously crowded every time it is held, "TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR (TABF)The "Printed Material Festival" is an international gathering of publishers, galleries, and artists from around the world. Publishers, galleries, and artists from all over the world, who usually express themselves through printed materials in their respective countries and regions, will gather for several days, attracting a total of over 20,000 visitors.
The event will now be held in July 2019 for the first time in almost two years!
Prior to this, the "Sony Park" will be open for a month from March 8 (Fri.) to April 7 (Sun.), 2019 at Ginza Sony Park.TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR: Ginza Editionwill be held.
This will not be a "festival" like the annual fireworks display, but rather a "park," which is the concept of the Ginza Sony Park where the event will be held.
In other words, a space is created where people can connect with the creators and art books in a more everyday nuanced way.
What makes this year's event even more unique is that the booth fee is not money, but "10 books! The "10 books" from each booth will be used in a new project called the "Art Book Vending Machine," and the venue will be stocked with over 1,000 art books.
Each weekend, 20 exhibitors will take part in a rotating schedule of booths, each of which is an attempt to communicate directly with visitors and convey the attractiveness of printed materials.
This is a very unique project that allows visitors to encounter art books as casually as if they were strolling into a park and enjoy the new world that opens up from there. It is a wonderful measure to shorten the distance between art and daily life.
