Mar,Jil Sander.opened a permanent store specializing in bags and leather goods on the first floor of Isetan Shinjuku's main building.
If you want to know what the new "Jill Sander" by Lucy and Luke Meyer is capable of, you should visit this store at least once.
The "Envelope Box" is said to embody the brand concept with its soft and structured form, the "Sombrero" is based on a hat motif, and the "Tootsie" is a revival of an archive piece. The brand's identity, which is synonymous with minimalism, has not been compromised, but has been cleverly updated.
The collection of leather goods introduced here is no exception. The fusion of the stripped-down design symbolized by the stitch-less design and the organic form unique to natural materials is sure to make you sigh in admiration.
On a personal note, I bought a pair of "Jil Sander" shoes for myself on my first trip to Italy, despite their bulkiness. The black calf-covered, round-shaped, external blades were the ultimate in minimalism. The new leather goods were just as impressive or even more so.
