The environment surrounding music has changed dramatically over the past decade. As the listening environment, or in other words, the system, changes, it is only natural that artists' music will also change. Perhaps not unrelated to these changes, the past few years have seen the emergence of a succession of young, talented musicians. This is a golden age that we, as viewers, should welcome.

On January 29th, ( and ), the new decade of the 2020s, Ebisu LIQUIDROOM and BOY, a concept store of "fashion & music" in Shibuya, will co-host an event called "Song For Future Generation. Song For Future Generation" will be held.

The previous event, held in September 2017, brought together King Gnu, Domiko, MONO NO AWARE, CHAI, odol, and NITRODAY, artists who are currently expanding into the world in their own ways, creating an evening that will be a major presentation for the future. This lineup shows the keen eye of these artists.

This year's lineup features six groups: dodo / Hasegawa Hakushi / Kimijima Daisora ( Solo ) / Seimaru Togo / Yank! / Wez Atlas. From up-and-coming rappers to rising stars of minimal mellow, this is a lineup that you cannot take your eyes off.

dodo

DODO is a new generation rapper with bittersweet lyrics due to his life-sized daily life and state of mind, catchy hooks, and adorable looks. His minimalist tracks are matched by his warm raps and presence, and he is resonating with many teenagers. His choice of words, which are sentimental and evocative of life, gives a sense of security to those of us living in the year 2020, a future that was unimaginable until a short while ago. He has a cute, straightforward smile, but his sharp, sometimes almost maniacal, verbal expressions and his flow are also captivating. What kind of emotions will dodo bring to the audience this night?

Hasegawa's blank paper

Hasegawa Hakushi, a musician who has been releasing music on the Internet since he was a teenager, now freely creates music in collaboration with Sakiyama Soshi and others. Hasegawa's music, which plays a fantastic tone as if sounds are coming out from all directions, develops with an overwhelming uniqueness that combines poignancy and brilliance. In his first full-length album "Air ni ni" released in November last year, Hasegawa's music has a jazzy modern sound, as shown in the lead track "Only You" , an eerie and thrilling progression that is typical of Hasegawa's "In the Desert" , and a unique sound with bouncing keyboards and a shimmering sound. The last number, "Neutral," features only bouncing keys and gentle vocals, and is a magical work that allows the listener to fully enjoy the music of Hasegawa's current blank slate. The live performance is a must-see, a combination of high originality, technique, and imagination.

Kimijima Ozora

In 2019 , when asked the question, "Who do you care about now?" I have mentioned the name of Kimishima Ozora at every opportunity when I have asked the question, "Who do you like right now? Since I got to know him through "Farsighted Contralto" released last March, I have been following him as a musician who, like Hasegawa, releases original soundscapes, and I have a very rare impression of music born in the air of UK rock and alternative rock, and on the edge of ambient and pop. I had the extremely rare impression that his music was born from a balance of ambient and pop music with an air of UK rock and alternative rock. I first met him at last year's Fuji Rock Festival, where he was standing on the Rookie Agogo stage on the second day of the festival, and we exchanged greetings the night before. On the day of the show, it was pouring rain at the time of his performance. His voice and melodies, which seemed to be on the verge of withering away, must have been heartbreaking for many of the people who were there. Despite the inclement weather, the concert was packed, and on January 29, the band performed an acoustic set under the name of Kimijima Ozora ( Solo ). Yank!

Yank! is a four-piece rock band formed by college classmates with a psychedelic sound and a beat that could have passed through African music, etc. When you first listen to "Loop," the lead track from their 2019 EP Space Out, you'll feel the same addiction you felt when you first heard "Ghana" from D.A.N.'s debut EP. Upon first listen to "Loop," I felt an addictive feeling of unwitting repetition, like when I first heard the song "Ghana" from D.A.N.'s debut EP, and I was not wrong. As the title suggests, the song loops along with a funky guitar solo that seems to add color to the song, and the song develops into a charming development. This must be a special stage for them and for me, as they still have a lot of unknown charms.

Wez Atlas

Wez Atlas is a hip-hop artist who has been steadily gaining attention as a heavy rotation artist on radio stations, and his tricky rap style, which mixes English and Japanese with a pleasant sensation, and his collaborations with artists of the same generation, which are born from international relations, are expected to make him a physically nimble presence in the future.
