Artist.BaanaiDo you know Mr. [Comme des Garcons]? Some of you might recognize him if we mention the words "Comme des Garcons". He was inspired by a portfolio he sent to Rei Kawakubo in 2015, and in the years since, his artwork has been used on Comme des Garcons clothing, shopping bags, direct mail, and more.

His characteristic style, in which he draws the alphabet in all directions, at first glance looks like abstract painting or graffiti, creating a one-of-a-kind world that draws the viewer in somehow.

Burnye's solo exhibition "Capillaries" will be held from February 19 (Wed.). The venue is the gallery space "ART UP" on the second floor of Isetan Shinjuku Men's Building. The exhibition will feature a different approach to his previous works, in which the alphabet "ARIGATOU GOZAIMASU" will be drawn on the entire surface of the work.

Capillaries" is a word meaning capillaries. The series and overlaps of the letters of "ARIGATOU GOZAIMASU" are likened to capillaries, and the canvas expresses the image of the capillaries spreading into the body of the universe. It is an experiment and a prayer to see what will happen if he continues to paint these words 365 days a year without a single day of rest.

"Multilayeredness" is another key word. In fact, the bottom layer of the canvas is also filled with this word, which is an image of the principles of the world and the universe, made up of visible and invisible things.
