DRIES VAN NOTENhas presented a collaborative item with Mika Ninagawa in its Spring/Summer 2020 men's collection. This is the first time that Dries has teamed up with a Japanese artist for a collection itself.
The motifs were selected from the 2017 art zine NEW NOIR 2. Ninagawa worked with graphic designer YOSHIROTTEN to create this fantastical work, which featured flowers, fireworks, and nudes. The collection had a bewitching atmosphere befitting the collection of Doris, who is said to be a magician of color.
Their encounter can be traced back to the opening of the Aoyama store in 2009. Ninagawa created a work to commemorate the opening. Since then, the two have deepened their relationship from time to time. Ninagawa's sense of color was something that Doris had to recognize, and as a fellow artist, she is delighted.
The collaboration items will be featured at the Aoyama store until February 16 (Sun) and at a pop-up store at Isetan Men's Building from February 19 (Wed) to 25 (Tue).
