DUPPIES BAND is a dub instrumental band formed by members who have supported the dawn of the reggae sound in Japan. Three years after their last album, the band will release their new album "LIGHT UP THE DARKNESS" on Friday, June 20, 2012, with an even more refined and soulful sound.

The members include KANG DONG (Dr.), who was a core member of "V.I.P BAND," JAH KENRO (Key), RED∴ (B) THE K (G), and Toru Nishiuchi (Sax). The dub mix engineer is Naoyuki Uchida (ex DRY&HEAVY).

The drummer KANG DONG, formerly of the V.I.P BAND, has established himself as a dancehall band, backing up such Japanese artists as CAPLETON, BOUNTY KILLA, and JAMALSKI. RED∴, who used to play drums in the hardcore band "DEAD COPS", is in charge of bass. In addition to their solid and stable rhythms, the band features THE K on guitar, who has played with Licklemai, Lee Scratch Perry, and others, Toru Nishiuchi on saxophone, who has played with Reggae Disco Rockers, Cool Wiseman, and others, and is currently active with Nigayomogi and Fog Lamp. The keyboards of JAH KENRO, who is also active in "Fog Lamp," overlap to create a smoky and dubby sound.

The concept of the new album is "a 7-inch record on CD. The live sound produced by the band's solid skills is dubbed and mixed by Uchida's hand with carefully selected analog equipment, resulting in a "thick-boned" vintage sound with "ear response".

Please enjoy the soulful and dubby adult sound suitable for the coming season.
