The "180 Signature Loafer," created in 1946, caught fire among the young people who hung out in the drugstores on the Champs-Élysées in the 1960s. They were called the "Bande du Drugstore" (Drugstore Gang), because they wore the loafers they had snatched from their fathers with their bare feet and denim. They were called the "Bande du Drugstore" (Drugstore Gang), and they were as sweet and sour as James Dean in "Rebel Without a Cause".
J.M. WESTONThe reason why the "180 Signature Loafer" is treated with such distinction is that its popularity has spread grassroots, and it still retains the appearance of a bygone era. This is also true of the "705 Side Gore Boot" and the "641 Golf," both of which are referred to alongside the "180 Signature Loafer.
Of course, they are highly finished products. The Goodyear welt method, which does not use reboot tape, leather soles made from scratch in our own tannery, and six different sizes (foot widths) are available. These are just a few examples, but they are so structured and poised that no number of "big surprise" marks would be enough to describe them. As proof of this, no other competitor has been able to add even one of these to their menu. To sum up, J.M. WESTON's history has been a challenge to the limits of ready-made shoes.
The details do not disappoint. The fine stitch seams that finish the apron of the 180 Signature Loafer and the beauty of the peak on the instep of the 705 Side Gore Boots, created by the crimping technique, show the craftsmanship that has gone into these boots.
J.M. WESTON takes a different approach to stimulating our appetites than we tend to look for in decorative items, such as a sign of success or catchy specs to satisfy our geeky curiosity.
