COMME des GARÇONS has announced a new project, "People of the Year by COMME des GARÇONS and SWITCH. This project is to select people from various genres who have been active in recent years and develop items incorporating their artwork and messages.

Comme des Garçons chose SWITCH magazine, which celebrated its 35th anniversary, as its partner to launch the project. SWITCH has been regularly producing feature articles on COMME des GARÇONS, and has conveyed the philosophy of this rare brand through long interviews with Rei Kawakubo and newly shot fashion visuals. . When you think about it, it is unusual for Kawakubo, who almost never appears in the media, to have chosen a magazine.

For this commemorative first edition, COMME des GARCONS and SWITCH have selected eight Japanese and foreign artists. Nobuyoshi Araki (photographer), Naomi Osaka (professional tennis player), Shiriagari Kotobuki (manga artist), Stormzy (British rapper), Kazuyo Sejima (architect), Shuntaro Tanikawa (poet), Patti Smith (singer-songwriter), Ichiro Yamaguchi (musician).

Using their artwork, Kawakubo designed special items that include coach jackets, hoodies, shirts, T-shirts , sneakers, and tote bags. The simple yet dynamic designs are finished like art pieces.

The sale will begin on Saturday, November 28th and run through the end of December. They will be available at Comme des Garcons stores in Japan and abroad, as well as at Dover Street Market.
