Kota Kawai
The textiles in the piles of stock, the misalignment of textiles, the random weaving of colors. Fashion designer and artist Kota Kawai sees such things as beauty and incorporates them into her clothing and sculptures.
Kota Kawai's solo exhibition "visualize in space" will be held at "offs gallery" in Harajuku from March 24 to April 4 (Thu). First, please take a look at the visuals created especially for this exhibition.
In this solo exhibition, the artist will exhibit and sell a new chair made by deconstructing and reconstructing vintage clothing, remade clothing, and his first work using a bicycle.
His signature chairs are particularly noteworthy. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind piece made by docking old T-shirts, sweatshirts, knitwear, etc., and forming them into a chair.
The design of the chair looks great as an interior design just by placing it there, and the comfortable seating created by the soft fabric coexists in the same room, making it a duality of artwork and product.
There are sure to be encounters that will stimulate your senses. Please visit "offs gallery" this weekend.
