The Suunto Spartan Sport, released last September, is an excellent watch that allows users to select modes along with a whopping 80 different sports, including running and triathlon. The new Suunto Spartan Sport Wrist Achiever is equipped with a heart rate monitor, while maintaining the same technology as the previous model.

In addition, it is now possible to measure calories burned, maximum oxygen intake, and recovery time required for rest. If the heart rate can be monitored, there will be a wider range of ways to manage one's physical condition outside of the sports scene, and it is hoped that this will improve motivation for exercise that has been skipped. If worn at night, the device can also monitor resting and sleeping heart rates. The measurement accuracy has been dramatically improved by using three LED lamps instead of the usual one or two.
Three color variations are available, including a seasonal SAKURA color. The black bezel gives a strong overall impression, and the watch can be worn as a fashion item. The "omni-directional" sports watch, which is also suitable for everyday use, will go on sale on March 30 (Thu.).
