Photographer.Yosuke Suzukiwill hold a photo exhibition "Blue and Black" in Takamatsu, Japan.
In my personal opinion, there is not much sound in Mr. Suzuki's works. In fact, I sometimes imagine, somewhat unrealistically, that he presses the shutter at the very moment when the sound stops for a moment. I feel that because it is quiet, the photograph is powerful and vital. Or perhaps it is so powerful and vital that it subconsciously excludes sound. In any case, it gives us the happy experience of looking at the photographs as if we are fascinated by them.
Now, the theme of his solo exhibition "Blue and Black" to be held in Takamatsu is the earth (blue) and the universe (black). Suzuki's statement is as follows
How big is big enough for you?
Even though the physical size remains the same, we feel ourselves bigger or smaller depending on which space we are aware of. In other words, how you imagine that the earth is part of a larger universe, a larger life form, or that there are many cells and bacteria in your body (which may also be called the universe), changes your position in the universe.
I created this work by thinking about the relationship between the earth (blue) and the universe (black) in my small workshop in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo. I hope this "Blue and Black" will be of some use."
What kind of photographs embody this statement, which can be seen as somewhat conceptual? From the perspective of the earth, Takamatsu is very close to Tokyo, and this is an interesting exhibition. Mr. Suzuki, who has photographed numerous celebrities, will also hold a portrait shoot, "Ertz Photo Gallery," on July 2 (Sat) and July 3 (Sun). If you are in the neighborhood, please come.
