King Seiko" has been revived after almost half a century.
Together with the Grand Seiko, the King Seiko is a piece that combines technology, design, and cost performance at a high level, and was the golden age of SEIKO.
The foundation was the second generation "King Seiko," which was popularly known as the KSK. The KSK, with its new water resistance and second hand regulator (a function that allows the time to be set by stopping the second hand), became a role model not only for the King Seiko, but also for other high-end wristwatches.
The KSK was a role model in terms of design as well, with a lean dial layout, case styling with pronounced edges, and a boxy glass shape being good examples.
The revived King Seiko inherits its heritage and advances the needle of evolution by 50 years with modern technology. The styling of the case and band, with its prominent bridges, the combination of mirror and hairline finishes, the sharpness of the case, the low center of gravity, and the box-shaped sapphire glass with anti-reflective coating on the inner surface, all add up to a timepiece that can rightly be called "The Newest Classic. The result is a timepiece that is rightly proud to be called "The Newest Classic.
The caliber is the 6R31, which has a long reserve of approximately 70 hours. By deliberately omitting the calendar function, the neat face of Origin was preserved.
There are a total of five dial colors. In addition to the silver origin, the new lineup includes metallic gray, charcoal gray, brown, and red. The model shown here is charcoal gray. The radiating finish on the dial gives the watch a noble look on the wrist.
On July 8 (Fri.), a limited edition of 1,700 pieces will be released worldwide. The dial is champagne silver, and the indexes, hands, and brand mark on the back cover are dyed in yellow gold. The strap is crocodile leather.
The caliber installed is the 6L35. It is the thinnest caliber in the current line. Although it is self-winding, the case thickness is only 11.4 mm, just 0.5 mm shy of that of the hand-wound Origin.
