Based on subcultures such as music and art, it is saturated with the free atmosphere of the West Coast.FREECITY, Inc.collection. Nina Garduno, the creative director, is a charismatic woman who has worked as a buyer for Ron Herman and Fred Segal and created the current LA style.
She recently came to Japan with her latest 2017 collection "MAKER". The layout and display of the Japanese "FREECITY" store in Daikanyama has been completely redesigned to recreate the "FREECITY supershop" in Hollywood.
The "MAKER" collection for this pop-up focuses on the young artists who made the SOHO district of New York City in the 1970s and 1980s a vibrant place to live. The theme of "MAKER" is based on the energy and creativity of these young artists, who freely expressed themselves by customizing inexpensive T-shirts purchased at local thrift stores with safety pins and studs.
An iconic custom motorcycle sits in the center of the room, and vintage posters and art books adorn the walls. Clothes are laid out haphazardly, creating an unprecedented and mysterious space. This is a rare opportunity to experience the world of "Free City" as it is in its home country, so why don't you come and visit the store?
