The Pilot's Automatic presented at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2023 is a full-scale reworking of the Pilot's Collection, the face of Zenith, from the ground up.
The 40mm stainless steel or ceramic case, flat-top round bezel, coin-edged crown, groove-pattern dial, and Arabic numerals coated with Superluminova - the black-toned body The black body is full of dignity.
The stainless steel has a vertical satin-brushed and polished beveled finish, while the ceramic has a microblasted finish. All of the workmanship exudes dignity. The lines on the groove-pattern dial are inspired by the corrugated metal sheets that adorned the aircraft of yesteryear. The Arabic numerals are in sans serif , a font synonymous with pilot's watches that has transcended the boundaries between brands.
. The movement is a high-vibration El Primero 3620, which boasts a 60-hour power reserve when fully wound. . The black open rotor, reminiscent of the attitude indicator on the dashboard, is also irresistible.
The dial is signed "PILOT" , which is only allowed for Zenith. Convinced that the era of the sky was coming, the founder of Zenith registered the French word "PILOTE" in 1888 and the English word "PILOT" in 1904. . He thus became the one and only manufacturer of pilot's watches and dashboard instruments.
Although there are nostalgic touches here and there, the finished product is not nostalgic at all. . It is a progressive work that deserves to be called "reconstructed.
Strap is a cordura-effect rubber strap. Second strap included.
