This mountaineering film festival began as a one-day show 41 years ago and is now held annually in November in Alberta, Canada. It is an international outdoor documentary film festival that celebrates and communicates the spirit of adventure, mountain culture, and the wonders of the natural environment, selecting the Grand Prize and winning films from more than 350 submissions from around the world. Selected films will be screened here in Japan.
The Banff Mountain Film Festival in Japan 2016 will be held for the 12th time in Japan, starting on Saturday, September 3, 2016 in Norikura Kogen, Nagano Prefecture, and will be held in 11 locations throughout Japan (Norikura Kogen, Hakuba Village, Minakami Town, Asahi Town in Toyama Prefecture, Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Yokohama, Sapporo, Fukuoka . The festival will be held in Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Yokohama, Sapporo, Fukuoka, and Sendai over a period of about three months. Tickets will go on sale Monday, August 1 at Patagonia stores nationwide, Ticket Pia, and Yahoo!
