Aobadai and Omotesando, Meguro-ku, Tokyocommune246The shared office, which has space in thegreen villaThe management team of "WE WORK HERE" has produced a book on the theme of "how to work," which will be released on August 8, 2016.
The book is not a self-help book like so-called "workbooks" or "business textbooks," but rather a collection of 100 people who blur the distinction between work and life, and rather "live" and "work" are combined in the book. The following is a list of the 100 people featured in the book. The following is a statement from a member of "Midori-so" about what he thinks about working in Tokyo and the significance of this book. Please read the excerpts in full.

Monday morning, the commuter train is packed with workers on their way to the city center. The air is tense and tense with extreme stress. The elbow of the person next to you hits you, your bag gets stuck in the door, someone steps on your foot, or you click your tongue. A sudden trigger can cause an explosion of accumulated stress, and a yell is heard. Why do people who work in Tokyo seem to have so little fun? What is it that makes us so irritable? I have a feeling that it is not only due to the crowded trains.
This is a scene that is no longer familiar to those who work in Tokyo, but I feel that the issue of today's "way of working" is expressed here. Isn't working supposed to be fun? Shouldn't work be fun? Is work just about making money? Who on earth are we working for? What on earth are we working for? All sorts of questions arise.
After job hunting as a matter of course, they finally enter a company after repeated self-analysis and self-promotion, and aim for higher positions and higher salaries while performing the tasks assigned to them from above on a daily basis. He separates his work and life like a dual personality. He relieves the stress accumulated at work by playing smartphone games on the move or going out for drinks after work, and on weekends he shops at trendy stores introduced on TV, eats delicious food at restaurants with high scores on food logs, and enjoys his private life to the fullest in preparation for work that starts tomorrow. By enjoying his private life, he is ready for work starting tomorrow.
For those of us living in Tokyo, this may be the urban way of life, and it may be a noble thing, but is this really the only way to "live" and "work"? The never-ending cycle of work and life that we keep turning while constantly balancing it, however, something important to human beings that cannot be recovered only by this cycle, seems to be the distortion and creaking of this cycle that is screaming out in the crowded train.
Against the backdrop of this awareness of these issues, we asked 100 people, including the quirky friends at Midori-so where we work, people we met through their connections, people who seem to blur the distinction between work and life and just enjoy living and working here, and people for whom "living" and "working" seem to go together, to answer the question, "What is work? What is work? This book is a compilation of the questions "What is work? In what they have to say about "how to work," there may be something that could become the standard for the future of work.
That does not mean that the answer to the question, "What is work?" This book does not provide the answer to the question, "What is work? There are only 100 different paths that lead to each "HERE". The characters in this book are not role models for the reader, nor are they a reference, nor do we want them to be. We don't believe in the convenient story that if you listen to the know-how of successful people and imitate their techniques, the road to success will open up for you. We don't believe that if we listen to the know-how of successful people and imitate their techniques, we will find our way to success. and continue to take action, we believe that a path unique to each individual worker will be created.
