The travel magazine "TRANSIT" and its predecessor  "NEUTRAL" continue to win over devoted fans with a trinity of vivid photography, in-depth text, and one-of-a-kind design.
Naonori Kato, former editor-in-chief of both magazines and currently editor-in-chief of the design company SOUP DESIGN's publishing reevel PLANCTON, is launching a new magazine, ATLANTIS.
Although it has not yet been decided when the magazine will be published, issues 01 and 02 of the zine, which follow the first  of the magazine, will be released on Friday, June 30.
As for the zine, we have received the following release.
"Mr. Kato became an editor in 1997. Already at that time, the publishing world was said to be in a recession, but 20 years later, magazine circulation continues to decline and there is no end to the number of magazines that are going out of business.
Against this backdrop, why is Mr. Kato trying to launch a new magazine? Why does he continue to weave magazines? Over the course of six issues of ATLANTIS zine, we will present Mr. Kato's thought process as he reexamines the meaning of magazine making and his message to young editors who, like him, want to knit magazines."
Slowly but surely, magazines are disappearing. However, there is no doubt that there is a way of putting things together, a sense of exuberance, and a sense of reality that only magazines can bring.
In this time of magazine recession, what kind of magazines do up-and-coming editors produce, what kind of things do they think about, and what kind of processes do they go through to produce them? This is a content that is of interest not only to editors, but also to all people living in this age of virtuality and reality, digital and analog.
