Each season, Liberaiders has developed a collection inspired by the cultures and landscapes of different regions of the world, and while the three seasons from 22AW to 23AW were set in the North American continent, this season, for the 24SS, the focus is on Bangladesh in South Asia! .
Director Mei Yong first became interested in Bangladesh in 1971 . He came across a live album of a charity concert called "Concert for Bangladesh" organized by George Harrison of "BEATLES" whom he liked.
A quick search on the Internet reveals that it is described as one of the poorest countries in the world, but Mei traveled there himself and saw a landscape that is not shown in the media reports.
The city was bustling with colorful vehicles and people, and I had no idea that it was such a vibrant country. Speaking of Bangladesh, some people may think that the textile industry is thriving, but through the introduction of an acquaintance, I went to Bangladesh to visit the largest factory in Bangladesh. To be honest, it was very different from the image I had heard in the media. It was well equipped with the latest facilities and had a strong compliance system. It was one of the best factories I have ever seen. I visited Dhaka University by chance, and I was able to see the students' works on the art canvas, which was very creative and inspiring. I think that Bangladesh will continue to develop and the way the media reports on Bangladesh will change. I felt again the meaning of my trip when I came into contact with aspects of Bangladesh that are not covered by the media. I felt that, despite the energetic environment, the local people have a "seijaku (tranquility)" in their hearts, and they are polite and respectful to others. The theme "CALM AMONGST THE CHAOS" was born from such feelings.
The theme of the Fall/Winter 2012 collection is "CALM AMONGST THE CHAOS" and is set in Bangladesh. The 1st drop of the new season will be introduced along with a collection movie filmed in Bangladesh.
