It is the time of year when information on pollen dispersal comes out, and cedar and cypress are the focus of attention, but do you know what a sen tree is?
It seems to be distributed from Hokkaido to Okinawa, but except for some parts of Asia, it is a species that does not grow much outside of Japan. At one time it was used for traditional furniture making in Japan as a substitute for zelkova because of its beautiful grain, but it is not being fully utilized at present.
The company that caught our attention was MAS, a domestic furniture brand developed by Karimoku Furniture Co. The brand, directed by Mr. Wataru Kumano, has added two new colors to its lineup, and has adopted sen (Japanese cedar) wood as a material.

Until now, only one color, Hinoki-kinari, which allows you to enjoy the cypress itself, was available, but now two new colors, Forest Green and Soil Brown, have been introduced. The former is a soothing shade reminiscent of forest leaves and grasses, while the latter is reminiscent of the soil that supports the trees. Moreover, the painting techniques used by Karimoku Furniture preserve the wood's character, such as the grain of the wood, despite the dark color.
