Together, they created "Soulmate," a collection of photographs taken in Seoul, Korea.
This photo book was photographed in December 2023 and January and March 2024. In the clear winter air of Seoul and the light gradually shifting to spring, Kotori Kawashima gently captures the anxiety, anticipation, and determination of Asami Usuda, who is at a crossroads in her career.
It was a week later that the two of us landed on the banks of the Han River, saying, "Let me take your picture." But there was nothing to do but to take pictures. Each in loneliness. We didn't lean on each other, but walked together, in the winter of Seoul, which I never want to forget. (by Kotori Kawashima)
I traveled to Seoul three times before heading to spring. Whether the trip was short or long, I received something or left something behind. The photos from this trip are all things that hold joy and loneliness in their hearts. (Asami Usuda)
The book, which includes prose by Kaneko Ayano, a singer-songwriter whom the two admire, will be released by "YYY Press" in late October.
To coincide with the publication, a photo exhibition will be held at "GALLERY MoMo Ryogoku" in Ryogoku from October 26 (Sat) to November 24 (Sun).
