As the title suggests, a Timex watch will be sold for a whopping ¥170.

This campaign, celebrating the brand's 170th anniversary, is based on the concept of bringing back to life the tradition of "affordable watches" launched in the 1890s. Here are some of the watches that have been discounted.

The original idea for the project was the "Yankee" pocket watch, known as the watch that made the dollar famous. The "Yankee" pocket watch, which until then had only been available as a luxury item, was introduced to the world at the astonishing price of only one dollar, thanks in part to the ability to produce parts of consistent quality using molds in Waterbury, Connecticut, a city with a thriving brass processing industry.

This made watches available to the masses, including farmers, factory workers, and railroad conductors, and by the turn of the 20th century, more than 6 million "Yankees" were in the hands of ordinary Americans. They were even found among the belongings of the passengers of the famous "Titanic. Thus, the "Yankee" was called "the watch that made the dollar famous.

This special watch will be available in Japan for one day only, Saturday, November 16. It will be held inside the "Nama Kakigori Miyanoya Harajuku Store.
