Have you ever heard of the one-frame comic "BOARD SHORTS" that Yusuke Hanai, now an internationally popular artist, has been drawing for 10 years for "The Surfer's Journal Japan"?
Hanai's sometimes elegant, sometimes bitter view of the surfers' daily lives from her unique perspective has been welcomed by many readers and has been well received as a hidden popular section of the magazine.
Now, many of these works have been compiled into a single volume. The daily lives of surfers captured in a single frame will make you grin.
An exhibition commemorating the publication of the book will be held at GALLERY TARGET in Omotesando for one week only, from November 29 (Friday) to December 5 (Thursday). In addition to the book, "The Surfer's Journal Japan" magazine, in which Mr. Hanai's profile article appeared, commemorative T-shirts, and original drawings of some of his published works will also be on sale.
Incidentally, on the first day of the exhibition, a reception party will be held from 6:00 p.m., which is open to everyone. Hanai-san is also scheduled to sign autographs for those who have purchased items, so please be sure to visit the venue!
