Do you know about Hasami-yaki, a craft in Nagasaki Prefecture that has continued for 400 years? There are more than 100 kilns in the area, which still produce a variety of products, making it a traditional industry that Japan is proud to be a part of.
Such Hasami-ware ceramics manufacturer ".MARUHIRO Ltd.is holding its first pop-up store and exhibition.
From the new HASAMI brand developed by MARUHIRO based on the concept of "tools, rugged, and funny," new and existing items from the British pub-inspired series will be on sale. In addition, "BARBAR," which aims for "free and exciting manufacturing," will offer a lineup of limited-edition items only available at this event, such as 127 types of soba choko (buckwheat choko).
We also collaborate with artists working in various fields.
Takeuchi Shuntaro, for example, is well known for his surreal and charming illustrations on the cover of Huinum Unplugged. Porcelain figures and flutes are available for sale, and workshops are held to make decorative plates using Takeuchi's illustrations.
In addition, there will be a pop-up teahouse by GEN GEN AN, a tea shop that brings the strongest beverage Japanese tea to the world!
It is a pop-up with momentum, far removed in a good way from the tranquil worldview one might imagine from the term "traditional industry.
