Vol. 15 Daruma.
At the end of the year and the beginning of the new year, lucky charms and talismans come to mind. They are indispensable to renew one's spirit and welcome the new year. It is also one of the customs and good-luck charms that are typical of Japanese culture and that we would like to preserve for future generations.
This time, I would like to talk about my favorite Daruma doll. This Daruma doll is a little different from the most popular Takasaki Daruma doll in terms of shape and decoration. Surprisingly, Okayama is one of the leading Daruma production centers in Japan. This Daruma doll is characterized by its strong, thick eyebrows and angular shape, and has large, dark eyeballs. The ones made by Kurashiki's Kazuji Ono Shoten are especially wonderful, and I have collected several of them. Unfortunately, they are no longer in business, but if you find a Daruma with no eyes like this, I recommend acquiring one.
Don't hesitate to put your eyeballs in the air when something good happens.

An oversized Daruma doll, 45 centimeters tall.
