Enter the exciting and thrilling world of the unknown.

Takanawa Gateway Station is the newest station for both the Yamanote and Keihin Tohoku Lines. The new "BEAMS CULTUART" opened in "NEWoMan TAKANAWA" right in front of the station after exiting the north exit. Takanawa is a project of BEAMS CULTUART, which selects contemporary art, animation, music, graphics, and other cultural elements from the unique perspective of BEAMS, and disseminates them globally. CULTUART" is the first stand-alone store of this project, which selects contemporary art, anime, music, graphics, and other cultures from the unique perspective of BEAMS. In short, you can feel the cutting-edge culture that is typical of BEAMS, which values the culture that surrounds fashion. As the concept of the store is "an entry space for the cultural community," a variety of exciting and thrilling encounters await you.

At the "BEAMS CULTUART Takanawa" with a shimmering human flesh necklace around his neck. He had collaborated with the BEAMS label in the past and felt a close connection between BEAMS and culture.

DOOOO: We had a Creative DrugStore event at BEAMS T Harajuku a long time ago, and we also had a Creative DrugStore event at BEAMS JAPAN in Shinjuku, Tokyo. CULTUART by BEAMS BEAMS JAPAN" in Shinjuku, where I exhibited human flesh items. At that time, the cannibal items blended in nicely with the other exhibits, but I thought that BEAMS had an interesting space because it had a foundation of various cultures, each of which stood out. BEAMS I am very much looking forward to the first stand-alone store of "CULTUART".

The first stop in the store was the gallery space, which offers a realistic encounter with art. At the time of the opening, the store was hosting the "BEAMS CULTUART Takanawa" was exhibiting the work of graphic designer Yagi Reijiro, who art-directed the visuals commemorating the opening of "TAKANAWA" (*Closed on October 5). His works are available for sale as posters, so you can display your favorite one at home.

DOOOO: Wow, you have a gallery inside your store. When I was a teenager, I liked to look at art through books and videos, but I had never thought of going to a gallery. I wasn't sure if it was a place I could casually enter. But I think it is very nice to be able to casually enter a commercial store like this. (The ability to move the walls and fixtures (according to the content of the exhibit) also seems to create a nice space.

Graphic design by YAGI Reijiro for the theme of "HARMONY" to celebrate the opening of BEAMS CULTUART To commemorate the opening of "TAKANAWA," Yagi created this graphic design with the theme of "HARMONY. At first glance, all of the works seem to be different, but upon closer inspection, Mr. dooooo noticed that the word "HARMONY" was commonly incorporated into all of them.

It is true that many people have visited galleries for exhibitions of artists they are interested in, but they have never dropped by on a whim. However, a gallery attached to a store is a place where you can casually drop in and have an unexpected encounter with an artist. By the way, what kind of art do you like?

DOOOO: I like things that allow me to experience the extraordinary in the everyday, and I like art that has a strong appeal in this way. My original experience was watching science fiction and horror movies when I was a child. For example, "Alien 2" and "Terminator 2" that aired on Friday Roadshow. The setting, characters, and weapons were from the real world, but the androids and monsters that appeared were unrealistic and not something you would touch in everyday life. Even as a child, they made me think that there really are aliens. So I like things that are both real and unrealistic experiences.

Next, I was interested in the "ART The next exhibit that caught my attention was the "ART Digging" corner by Rotten Donuts. Lined up in a row are works of art, which you can easily encounter while digging through them like a vinyl record. Many people may have an image that art is expensive and difficult to buy, but the works here are affordable. Buying jackets on a hunch is just like buying records.

DOOOO: When I look at art works as I look for records, I can find things that do not usually catch my antennae. I think it is a hurdle to buy art works, but with this kind of display, it is easy to pick them up. Interesting!

dooooo, who purchased a piece by Mark Gonzalez about two years ago, shared his own rules for buying art.

DOOOO: Mark Gonzalez's work was based on the motif of a toilet, so I bought it with the intention of decorating the toilet in my store or house, which was still in the planning stage at that time. Basically, when I shop, I try not to buy unnecessary things. So I shop with a clear purpose in mind, such as "I want to display it here" or "I want to enjoy it at this time.
