On my way home from work in Yoyogi Uehara, a blue building came into my sight. I looked in the window and saw a light bulb emitting orange light. "Oh, they're open! I opened the door to the entrance marked "JOHN," and standing there was a man in black looking at me with a surprised expression on his face. The man was Yuichi Danjo. He is the famous owner of the restaurant who often appears in this column. When you happen to open the restaurant for a meeting and an unscheduled man comes in, of course you would be surprised (laughs). He gladly accepted such a rare visitor and showed me this knit. When we asked him about it, he told us that it was a piece from Cecil Tolkens, an up-and-coming brand based in East London. What I like about it is that it looks like a gansey sweater, but it has a kind of punk-ish atmosphere. The brand name knitted on the chest, the rivets on the body, and so on. When I came to England, I found out that a friend of mine was involved with this brand, and that's when the story really started to unfold," says Danjo. What's more, the products are handmade!
