How does a day in the life of a florist begin?
Tsunagawa: I have to stock up three times a week, getting up at 3:00 a.m. and heading to the market at 4:00 a.m.. Then I go to the store around 7:00 a.m. to get ready, and many days I go straight to the site for exhibition decorations, photo shoots, etc. On days when I am not on site, I work on orders and open the store. And then I find myself working into the night.
Do you have your own criteria for selecting flowers?
Tsunagawa: Of course the sense of the season is important, but I also value the "mood of the moment. The color and material matching that I developed during my apparel days is still my axis, but I add my mood to it. I learn a lot every time I do on-site flower arrangement, so I am constantly refining my own style as I go on.
I see that many people are ordering from you because they want such unique colors.
Tsunagawa: I like to express myself through the medium of flowers, so the most gratifying thing for me is when customers are happy with my work. I have to work early in the morning and it is a very hard job, but it motivates me. I am very grateful that many customers entrust me with their floral arrangements based on their requests.
Have you changed the way you dress since you became a florist?
Tsunagawa: Before becoming independent, I was more fashion conscious, but since starting this job, I have prioritized ease of movement. I often have to carry flowers and bend over, so I naturally started wearing more casual and functional clothes. However, that is not enough to lift my spirits, so I try to incorporate a sense of fashionable fun somewhere in my work.
- What was your impression of the Woolrich Outdoor Label?
Tsunagawa: I found the brand to be warm and coexistent with a classic atmosphere and modern functionality. In the past, I would have had a hard time finding the right combination, but it works very well with my current lifestyle. I spend a lot of time working in the field of flowers, so I honestly appreciate the lightness and durability of the products.
This time, we asked him to wear the "Boa Fleece Mountain Jacket".
Tsunagawa: I chose it because I had a hunch that it would be warm, and I thought it would go well with the clothes I had on hand. I was torn between brown and gray, but I thought the gray was more stylish and would blend well with the black clothes I like. When I tried it on, I was surprised to find that it was lighter and warmer than I had imagined. It is really cold when stocking up early in the morning in winter, so I think it will come in very handy.
- Is there anything you were conscious of in your coordination?
Tsunagawa: I've just unified the innerwear in black so that the jacket stands out. The eyewear is another key point. I chose thick frames to balance the volume of the boa.
