A new landmark is born. Stylists guide you to "MAKAVELIC OSAKA".
Machiavellian, born in 2013, makes urban bags that bridge the gap between street and mode. The items, which combine design and functionality, are designed in Japan, but are also available in New York and London. On September 2, the brand's street store opened in Horie, Osaka. Following the first store in Shibuya, Tokyo, which opened last year, this is the first store in the Kansai region where customers can experience the brand's world view. We asked Masaaki Ida, a stylist active mainly in the men's media, to talk about the appeal of "Machiavellian.
Interior view of "MAKAVELIC OSAKA. The clean, white-based atmosphere is impressive and contrasts with the colors of the bags and fixtures.

How was your visit to "MAKAVELIC OSAKA" this time?
well rice fieldI felt an atmosphere of crossover of not only fashionable but also sports and street elements. I got the same impression from the store on Cat Street in Shibuya, but I think the Osaka store has more of a "Machiavellian" concept.
The exterior with its iron lattice is one thing, but the show window with products purchased in New York and the DJ space next to the checkout counter clearly showcase the fashion and culture that Machiavellian has always valued.
In addition to bags, Machiavellian also offers a wide range of accessories. The long wallet that Ms. Ida is carrying is a "PRODUCTS BY JAM HOME MADE" model. ¥27,500 + tax
The bags hanging on the fixtures are from the "TRUCKS" series. It features a design with a strong sporty and street color.
What do you think makes Machiavellian so attractive?
well rice fieldThe most important thing is the design. The sporty "TRUCKS," the mode-inspired "SIERRA," and the high-end "MONARCA" line all have a clear brand direction. Looking at the details, there is a laptop compartment, a side zipper for taking things out, and ......, the user is well thought out. The sophisticated design is combined with functionality, and I think it is an urban bag that is different from those of fashion and outdoor brands.
Have you ever used Machiavellian bags for fashion shoots?
well rice fieldI have a bag. When styling trendy clothes, I chose a Machiavellian bag to add a fashion touch. The bags had a strong presence when I photographed the models in pull-out shots, so they were very photogenic. It was also a good match with the Tokyo designer brand.
The backpack in the photo is from the "SIERRA" series. It is mainly made of high-density nylon, and Italian leather is used for the bottom of the bag. Each ¥33,000+TAX
What did you like when you actually held the bags in your hands?
well rice field: The "SIERRA" series is made of high-density nylon. The shiny material is impressive and has a high-end atmosphere that Japanese bag makers do not have. When I see someone carrying one of these bags, I want to ask, "Where is it from? I can't help but ask. Machiavellian also makes original metal parts that connect the straps, and it is nice that they are particular about their accessories.
Also, the "MONARCA" backpack is all black at first glance, which makes a big impact, but the minimalist design with unified colors makes it easy to coordinate. For example, if I were styling with it, I would choose a monotone hooded overcoat for the coming season. Items that would go well with the coat would be casual items like a T-shirt, knit hat, and sneakers, but also urban and classy items like a turtleneck knit and side gore boots would also look good.
If you are looking for a rough style, match a monotone, rugged coat with a beautiful item. By adding an urban essence, you can further improve the compatibility with "Machiavellian.
The backpack that Mr. Ida is carrying is "MONARCA," an exclusive series available only at directly managed stores and limited stores. The chic black design is beautiful. ¥27,000+tax
It is true that carrying a bag on your back makes you more stylish. The colors are mostly black, navy and military colors.
well rice fieldMachiavellian's design direction is unified, and it clearly conveys the target demographic.
I would add that one of the things that impressed me about the "MONARCA" backpack is that it has rain protection. Most other bag makers sell them separately. Also, there are military bags made of Cordura nylon, but they are quite heavy and not stylish. Machiavellian bags have a military feel to them, which is another factor that makes me want to buy them.
The clutch bag held by Mr. Ida is from the "SIERRA" series. The two-layered interior allows for separate storage of a laptop computer and accessories. ¥9,600+TAX
Inside the "MAKAVELIC OSAKA" store, you can sit back and relax on a chair. Visitors can also enjoy shopping at their leisure when visiting with friends and family.
It's well-made and rugged, isn't it?
well rice fieldIt has both ruggedness and delicacy, and it's well-balanced. Even if the design is good, if the functionality is not good, I don't think I would end up buying it. I like that it has a look that intrigues men and enough functionality.
But it's also good that there are so many variations to choose from, so you can choose the one that best suits your needs.
well rice field: You can't go wrong no matter which one you choose. Each line has different tastes, but there are variations available within them, so I am sure you will find something that suits your taste.
