You can grow it to suit you.
Have your fashions changed much from when you were younger to now?
Shibukawa: That hasn't changed much. I like vintage clothing from the 50s and 60s the best. When I go out in public or to a live concert, or when I want to "look cool," I wear my favorite one-of-a-kind vintage clothes. The only thing that has changed is the size. I've gone from tight to a little more relaxed.
What is it about vintage clothing that attracts you?
Shibukawa: It's the texture. I especially like shirts, and many of them have open collars. The quality of the old rayon fabric is hard to find in today's shirts. It's like the feeling of falling down.
The coat you wore today is made of cotton on the outside, so the more you wear it, the better the texture will become.
Shibukawa: It's nice, isn't it? It's like those clothes become your own. I like it because it feels like I'm "growing" the clothes to suit me, whether it's a leather jacket or jeans. This coat is also made of a solid fabric, so it's worth growing. The sleeves were a little long, so I rolled them up, but I thought that was an interesting accent.
The other set-up is a shiny, lightweight, wrinkle-resistant material.
Shibukawa: I don't usually wear this kind of beautiful stuff, but it's good for stage greetings and other times when I want to "dress a little nicer". It's beautiful, but it's loose-fitting, so it's easy to move around in. It's not a tight-fitting suit, but just the right balance. If I like it, I wear it all the time. If I do that, it becomes more and more my own. I can't really explain what it is that I like about it, but there's definitely a point where I say, "That's it.
What do you mean by "a moment that fills your heart" in reference to NANAMICA's concept of "Lifetech Wear that fills your heart"?
Shibukawa: It overlaps with what I said earlier, but I guess it's when the shooting is over and I have some free time, and I find a nice restaurant. When I find a good restaurant, I go in and say, "I've hit it! I've hit the right spot. Because I love to eat.
I'm sure you enjoy your meals more than anything else.
Shibukawa: I don't usually exercise that much, so as I get older, I have to put up with a little more eating at night. I am happy when I find a good restaurant that makes up for that patience. I am also happy when I eat eels. I don't get to eat unagi often, and it's only for birthdays and anniversaries. Well, I am most satisfied when I eat delicious food.
